General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products Appoints Jim Losse as Vice President and General Manager of Advanced Materials Strategic Business Unit

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), today announced that Jim Losse, formerly Vice President, Engineering, has been appointed Vice President and General Manager of the company’s Advanced Materials strategic business unit, effective immediately. In this role, Losse is responsible for the production and fiscal performance of the company's advanced composites programs.

In announcing the appointment, General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products president Mike Mulligan said, “He brings to his new position a wealth of technical knowledge and understanding of Advanced Materials’ products and customers. I am confident Jim will provide the leadership necessary to ensure stability and growth for the business.”

Prior to General Dynamics’ acquisition of Advanced Technical Products in 2002, Losse spent much of his career working in the field of advanced composites at the facility that has since become GDATP’s Marion Operations. He holds Bachelor of Arts degrees with highest honors in mathematics and physics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a doctorate in theoretical solid state physics from Iowa State University.

For his new role, Losse will be located in Charlotte, N.C., but will spend significant time at the Marion, Va., and Lincoln, Neb., advanced composites manufacturing facilities and offsite with customers. Steve Elgin, Sr. Director, Engineering for Detection Systems, will serve as the acting Vice President, Engineering until a successor to Losse is identified.
