June 20, 2007

FALLS CHURCH, Va. – Two business units of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD) – General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products and General Dynamics Electric Boat – have been awarded the 2007 James S. Cogswell Outstanding Industrial Security Achievement Award by the Defense Security Service. General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products’ Vermont-based Burlington Technology Center and General Dynamics Electric Boat’s Quonset Point, R.I., facility were two of only 30 facilities nationwide selected for the honor.

“These awards recognize the diligent efforts of many employees who are committed to ensuring the security of General Dynamics facilities in Rhode Island, Vermont and across the country,” said Walter M. Oliver, Senior Vice President–Human Resources and Administration for General Dynamics in Falls Church, Va. “We are pleased to receive these awards as a symbol of our commitment to meeting our customers’ expectations in every facet of our operations.”

The Cogswell Award is the most prestigious honor the DSS presents to defense contractors. Of the 12,500 defense facilities that compete for the award, only five percent are nominated for the honor. Award recipients must demonstrate industrial security excellence and innovation that exceed National Industrial Security Program requirements and provide leadership to other cleared facilities in setting exacting standards for security.
