BURLINGTON, VT – General Dynamics Armament Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics (NYSE: GD), has been awarded a total of $10.1 million in contract options this year for the production of 635 MK19 40mm weapons. These options were awarded by the U.S. Army, Tank-Automotive Command (TACOM) located in Rock Island, Illinois.
This is part of a multi-year contract received in June 2001 with a total potential value of $48 million. This year's options increase the cumulate orders against this contract to a total of $36 million and the number of MK19s ordered to 2,416. Deliveries under this order will take place through 2003. The MK19s will be produced at the General Dynamics facility in Saco, Maine.
General Dynamics has produced more than 25,000 MK19 weapons for the U.S. Government and other customers since 1986. Firing M430 High Explosive Dual Purpose grenades, the MK19 enhances the normal infantry firepower, which consists of rifles, mortars and crew-served machine guns
